Brooks Bombers will not participate in the 2021 WCBL Season

For Immediate Release

The Brooks Bombers Executive Board decided that the Bombers will not participate in the 2021 WCBL due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

“We felt that with the current status of the Canada-US border, the costs associated with AHS safety protocols and testing, and the lack of revenue from fan attendance left us with a very difficult decision,” commented Bombers GM Jason Wandler.  “We also felt it was extremely important to give our American players to have sufficient time to find another place to play this summer and to give our Canadian players the option to play with one of the other Alberta franchises,” Wandler added.  “Our board felt it was more important to forego the 2021 season rather than to run a deficit for a shortened season,” said Bombers President Jason Thomasen.

The Brooks Bombers would like to thank our sponsors, fans, billet families, and the City of Brooks for their continued support throughout the global pandemic.  The Bombers Executive Board will continue to focus on fundraising efforts, seeking sponsorships, and making improvements to Elks Field to prepare for the 2022 season.
