5th Annual Sports Celebrity Dinner & Auction

Lloyd Moseby, Curtis Glencross, Scott Bryne & Brett Gardiner

The Brooks Bombers and Brooks Bandits are joining forces to bring you the 5th Annual Sports Celebrity Dinner & Auction.

This will mark the first time both organizations are partnering together toward a fundraising event and we hope it’s the first of many to come.  This year’s dinner will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Heritage Inn & Convention Centre.  We have assembled a great lineup of speakers from rodeo, hockey and baseball; Brett Gardiner, Scott Bryne, Curtis Glencross and Lloyd Moseby.

Returning for a second straight year is professional rodeo announcer Brett Gardiner and retired professional bullfighter Scott Bryne.  Brett has won the Canadian Professional Rodeo Associations Announcer of the Year every year since 2011.  He also calls the PBR Canada’s Monster Energy tour on TSN, and is part of the team that calls the Calgary Stampede every year.  Brett makes his home in Sylvan Lake, AB with his wife Jaclyn and three children.  We are very excited to have Brett return with his endless stories from the chutes and rodeo rings across Canada.

Being a bullfighter who stares down a 1,500-pound bull and jumps between him and a fallen rider takes a special type of person and that person is Scott Bryne.  Scott has been bullfighting for 20 years and, in that time, Bryne became one of the best bullfighters Canada has ever produced. He has fought in 15 Calgary Stampedes, 14 Canadian Finals Rodeos and all 10 PBR Canada National Finals.  Bryne retired in 2015, however in 2016 won the Canadian Cowboy of the Year, solidifying him as the greatest bullfighter of all time.  Scott currently resides near Brandon Manitoba with his wife and kids.  We excited to hear his stories of fighting bulls over the past 2 decades.

Curtis Glencross played for the Brooks Bandits in their inaugural season in 2000-01 and the 2001-02, season when he amassed 65 goals and 113 points in 113 games. Curtis’s number 17 is retired to the rafters of the CRA.  In 2004 he signed a professional contract with the Anaheim Ducks and made his NHL debut on January 13, 2007.  He played with five teams during his 12 year NHL career.  Seven of those years were played with the Calgary Flames, where he was named an alternate captain and amassed 114 goals and 261 total points during his time in Calgary.  We are very excited to have Curtis join us this year.

Lloyd Moseby is a Toronto Sports Legend who amassed close to 1500 hits and over 150 home runs over a 12-year MLB career while playing for Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers. He was the Toronto Blue Jays first ever draft pick and they took him 2nd overall in the 1978 draft. Lloyd was an MLB All-Star in 1986 and Silver Slugger winner in 1983. The Barfield, Moseby, Bell combination in the outfield for the Blue Jays teams of the 1980’s is often referred to as one of the greatest outfield combinations in MLB history. Lloyd was most recently named in the top 20 on the Sportsnets list of the top 40 Blue Jays of all-time. In 2018, he was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Mary’s, Ontario. Lloyd spends his current time mentoring young baseball players as well as being an ambassador for the Toronto Blue Jays organization!

Tickets to the dinner will be $100 per person or you can purchase a table of 8 people for $750.

This includes a western style buffet prime rib dinner and drink ticket.  Tickets will be available soon, so stay tuned to both the Bombers and Bandits social media to find out where you can get yours.  We hope to see you there, as it promises to be a great night of entertainment and fundraising for both teams.
